An Exchange of Letters between Zurich and Paris

The Art Report “Mille Feuilles”

On kunstbericht.ch, the artist Andrea Heller and the writer Max Küng will be exchanging letters to form their “Mille Feuilles” project. In their correspondence, they will each report on their day-to-day lives and the art that characterises them, reflecting on the state of their art. By the end of the year, an “art report” will emerge from the images and words they produce – a project initiated and supported by Nationale Suisse.

“Mille Feuilles” on www.kunstbericht.ch is an exchange of letters, a conversation, a dialogue, a back-and-forth, a game of ping-pong between two cities which are home to two different people who have one thing in common: art. The Paris-based artist Andrea Heller and the writer and Zurich resident Max Küng intend to create a genuine “art report” from February to December 2013, inviting audiences to discover and experience Swiss art and literature.

An Artistic Work as Part of the Financial Reporting Process

The art report is not only a further commitment to art on the part of Nationale Suisse, but is also an integral element of our concept for financial reporting in the periods from 2012 to 2014, which is dedicated to the topic of art. A new artistic work is featured every year, developing in parallel with the reported business figures.

Andrea Heller Andrea Heller (born in 1975) studied fine arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (University of Fine Arts) of Hamburg, Germany, and at the Zurich University of the Arts. Her work encompasses various media: as well as painting and drawing, she works with silhouettes, collage, photography and sculpture. Her paintings were on display in a solo exhibition at the Helmhaus in Zurich at the end of 2011. In addition, her first monograph, “Die Würzeln sind die Bäume der Kartoffeln/The Roots are the Potatoes’ Trees” has been published by Edition Patrick Frey. She lives and works in Paris.

Max Küng Max Küng (born in 1969) is a qualified banker and computer programmer, but has spent ten years working as a writer and reporter for DAS MAGAZIN. He is also involved in various other activities, such as creating the soundtrack for the play “Genesis”, staged at Zurich’s Schauspielhaus theatre and directed by Stefan Bachmann. He has had two books published by Edition Patrick Frey to date: “Einfälle kennen keine Tageszeit” (“Ideas have no concept of the time of day”) and “Buch N°2” (“Book N°2”). His third book, “Nachdenkliche Rennfahrer” (“Thoughtful racers”) is due to be released soon.
