Nationale Suisse at the central signal box in Zurich main station
Since 12 July 2011, the logo of international Swiss insurer Nationale Suisse has adorned the famous central signal box at the entrance to Zurich main station. In addition to the logo, a mega-poster has also been hung at the northern signal box on the other side of the rail platforms. The poster depicts Nationale Suisse brand ambassador Roger Federer, who stands for the company's values of “personal”, “successful” and “caring”.
Nationale Suisse is an international and independent Swiss insurance group providing risk and pension solutions in the non-life and life segments for private and business customers, as well as selected niche products. “We are pleased to have such a strong presence at Zurich main station from now on,” enthuses Hans Künzle, CEO of Nationale Suisse. “This prominent location is the ideal environment for us – not least as several hundred thousand commuters and travellers pass by each day.”
Close connection to transport and engineering
Historically, Nationale Suisse has a close connection with transport, machinery and technical equipment and is still dedicated to insuring them internationally today. The company was founded in 1883 in Winterthur as a transport insurer. It successfully contributes over a century of experience in engineering as one of the two principal insurers for the construction of the world’s longest railway tunnel, the Gotthard Base Tunnel. From 2017, Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) trains will be using the tunnel.
The art of insurance
Nationale Suisse has respect for the 1963 central signal box, designed by SBB architect Max Vogt, which has architectural-historical significance. “Art is extremely important to us at Nationale Suisse. We not only offer art insurance but have one of the most important collections of contemporary Swiss art, comprising over 1,600 artworks by 400 artists,” remarks Hans Künzle.
This commitment at Zurich main station is set to run for a five-year contractual period; it has been agreed with SBB not to disclose the costs involved.
