Safety Without the Bicycle Vignette

On 1 January 2012, the bicycle vignette and associated third-party liability insurance were abolished. At Nationale Suisse, you are still fully insured. This is because third-party insurance for cyclists is now automatically included in the basic cover provided by your personal liability insurance at no extra charge.

At Nationale Suisse, your insurance cover as a cyclist is guaranteed at all times. This has not changed with the abolition of the bicycle vignette on 1 January 2012.

Good to know: The abolition of the bicycle vignette means that it will no longer be compulsory to insure each individual bicycle with a vignette, but that each private individual is responsible for ensuring that he or she is insured as a cyclist. With Nationale Suisse, you can relax. If you have a personal liability insurance policy with us, your third-party liability as a cyclist is now included in the basic cover at no extra charge from 1 January 2012. This also applies to e-bikes with a top speed of up to 25 km/h and/or a maximum output of 0.5 kW.

For All Bicycles and E-Bikes in Your Household

The amount of the sum insured or any deductible depends on which option you have chosen for your personal liability insurance. The number of bicycles or e-bikes in your household is not important. The only thing you need to note and may have to check with your customer advisor is whether you have taken out an individual policy or a family policy. If you have an individual policy, you alone are insured as a cyclist.
